Self Editing Checklist:

1. Make sure I've varied the ways sentences begin.

2. Make sure no words are overused or are too close together if used multiple times.

3. Make sure I've used words properly.

4. Up the verb ante, check for bland verbs and replace with stronger ones

5. Make sure all senses are represented, especially smell.

6. Make sure I don't have disembodied body parts floating around. (i.e. a hand, vs. his hand)

7. Go through my grammar rules, especially hyphens and em dashes.

8. Go through my search and destroy word list.

9. Run through Word's spell and grammar checker.

10. Read aloud.
