I was not one of those people who had stories running amuck in my head kicking and screaming to be let out, nor did I read until until the wee hours of the morning using a flashlight under the blankets of my bed, nor do I have characters talking to me while I chat with other people. Books were not part of my childhood, nor was reading. In other words, I am not a natural.
Instead, I'd spent the majority of my adult life working hard, taking college night classes, and trying to get ahead. I had little time for "recreation." I was a partner in and General Manager of a computer service and consulting firm, when my husband and I had a child. Desperately in love with my daughter, I threw in the towel on my career, and became a full-time Mom.
My second child had a lot of medical problems. It was during the long sessions at the hospital and sicknesses at home that I began my affair with fiction. The more I read, the more my mind opened. I loved the escape and discovered how therapeutic and plain-old fun a good book can be. Reading and family became the air I breathe. I read everything from comic books to Pulitzer-prize-winning fiction to non-fiction.
Wanting to immerse myself in the land of words and hoping to work from home, I embarked on this writing journey. My first book was a world-class stinker. (Writing is harder than I ever imagined.) I bungled along and several years later, I am published in a variety of genres. Figuring there is enough tragedy in the news, I prefer to write on the lighter side and embrace happy endings.
I hope you enjoy my work.
I review fiction for a few different organizations.
